RE: Camping with a dog . . . is it hard to do

Just remember this number and see if you can deal with it - 47,500.
47,500 = number of times in a month you either step over or walk around a dog in an RV....
Not enough room in the Sprinter to walk around Presley so maybe my number will be smaller :) Currently he follows me around very closely turning when I turn - so I look everywhere for him and he is right behind me - reminds me of a cartoon.

Keith

Camping with a dog . . . is it hard to do

We finally got a new dog after being dogless for almost 20 years. My former dog went everywhere with me and I am hoping this dog will also.
I have suddenly started to notice dog restrictions where I hadn't really payed attention before. Do you travel to State, Federal Parks, etc. with your dog? Do you just go to open National Forests and BLM and stay away from state campgrounds?
Thanks,
Keith

In San Francisco? Want to check out a Sportsmobile Sprinter?

If you want to check out a Sprinter and are in the San Francisco area, Saturday is the day!
StarFest 2008, a Mercedes Club of America event will be showing all types of Mercedes, new and old and restored, etc. Saturday 10-4 on the lawn at Treasure Island. It should be a great show for any one interested in cars, especially Mercedes.
Sportsmobile will have a couple of models there and I will have my Sprinter there for show also. Ooooh, so pretty! Come on by and see me! We can talk trash about A's and C's.:C

RE: Tire recommendation for Sprinter? (16 inch)

clip . . .
Tire size is 225/75 R16. (16 inch wheel)
While I'm at it, has anyone put slightly wider/taller tires on a Sprinter? Perhaps 235/75 R16? Have you had clearance issues? I'm not looking to get lectured (Please!) or start a raging debate, I'd just like to find out if there are any success stories out there.
BTW, the search function seems to be limited to the past 12 months. Am I missing something?
Thanks,
-dave-
Hi Dave,
The stock size on a '08 2500 Sprinter is 245/75R16 so you shouldn't have any problem if you have an 07/08. I was looking at going up to a 265/75R16 before the end of the year. Then I came across this http://www.ourexcellentadventures.com/wp-content/photos/17wheel.jpg height=380 width=291.
The wheel is listed in the Mercedes brochure for Sprinter accessories which is on my website under Sprinter reference material. I am trying to find out now if it is available and how much.

Keith

RE: How to change a Sprinter Fuel Filter (07, 08)

No, I see from my site monitor that the server was down this afternoon. It occasionally goes down but I have no cotrol. Give it another try sometime.

How to change a Sprinter Fuel Filter (07, 08)

Just in case any Sprinter owner here wants to change their fuel filter, I have documented my experience on my blog.
Part 1 is here.

RE: Just back from Alaska/Canada

We will spend more time on the Top of World next trip. There is a great looking campground on the route.
The Denali Highway was also great. I am still working on that post. It was the roughest dirt road we encounted but even in the rain a real adventure.

Just back from Alaska/Canada

We had a great trip traveling 6,167 miles, 1,040 miles by boat and 5,127 miles (including over 600 miles of dirt road) in our Sportsmobile Sprinter ("the Bus"). Traveling as far north as 67°14?55"(Coldfoot, Alaska), we used 270 gallons of diesel for an average 19 mpg.
If any of you have questions about specifics just email me. The report, still being updated, is on my blog.
Regards,
Keith
PS. The only problem we had is now we have to go back again! Yahoooo!

A great trip! 32 days in our Sportsmobile Sprinter.

What a trip! We traveled 6,167 miles, 1,040 miles by boat and 5,127 miles (including over 600 miles of dirt road) in our Sportsmobile Sprinter ("the Bus"). Traveling as far north as 67°14?55" (Coldfoot, Alaska) and averaged 19 mpg with speeds down to 5 and up to 75mph.
We saw maybe 10 Leisure Travel Sprinters and lots of Class B's. The whole first half, BTW, we saw more bikers than Class A's. The predominant (because of the many rentals is Class C.
The entire report (minus the Denali Highway) is on the blog. Still have to do some correcting of links, etc. and post the Denali Highway, a very great part of the trip.

Keith

RE: Sportsmobile it is

I have a lot of information on SMB Sprinter's on my blog including the building of mine.
It is more spartan than the major manufacturers but getting how you want it is real important. I designed mine completely down to the color of hinges.

RE: Alaska- Weather & Mosquitoes

We have been in Alaska for the past two weeks. No problems with the little varmits. There were quite a few on the Denali Hwy but we have yet to use any spray.
Weather was wet the first 10 days but has been pretty good since then. Excellent views of Mt. McKinley a couple of days ago.

Keith, heading north to Coldfoot

RE: Primary Vehicle

My 2008 Sportsmobile Sprinter is my primary vehicle. My wife drives a Miata so everytime we have company the Sprinter is used. I am retired so I don't need to drive everyday. I usually save my trips up if possible.
My wife drives her Miata to work . . . I never touch it as I love my Sprinter to much!

Thanksfor pointing out this is part of a unplayed Gatorade advertisement. It was a good one!
And today at the game (LAA vs Oakland) guess I better have some Gatorade.

RE: 2008 Sprinter Mileage Report

The speedometer only has a bearing because I am testing mileage at 60 and 65. Mileage is a function of speed. I have to have points to compare.
The V6 does not have a range of 500 (lucky you!). 350 is probably about tops so I am running off the top half of the tank. The short mileage is because this is the only route I was on today that was basically the same, coming and going. I will have longer mileages returning from Alaska in August/September.
I use the same pump and nozzle most of the time but, in the end, these are just my numbers. They are provided for V6 owners or potential owners as anecdotal information only. Still I think I am closer than the EPA and their estimates. Once we have other 07, 08 owners reporting mileage we'll see.

Keith
